Hospital care is an important part of medical care and my practice. I frequently say that my job is to keep people out of hospitals. That is my intent. That's how I have come to develop the wonderful programs for dietary weight control and nicotine free life. Generally speaking, I am quite successful in achieving that lofty goal. Unfortunately, there are some that need hospital care. When that necessity arises, you can feel confident in your choice of Spohn South Hospital. It is a first class patient care facility. In its most recent evaluation by the JCAH*, September 1998 it scored a 99 of 100.
I have come to know the specialist physicians, nurses and ancillary staff there quite well. They make a great team. Patients get as good of care that one could expect. Working with them, I have found them to be a great patient care team. I am very pleased I chose to locate near Spohn South Hospital.
At the present time, those patients enrolled in the Humana HMO programs are usually required to go to the Columbia system where they are cared for by the Corpus Christi Hospitalists. The Corpus Christi Hospitalists are a group of fine physicians that essentially do only hospital work. This is a new specialty or sub speciality that is emerging for the 21st century.
*JCAH stands for Join Commission of Accrediation of Hospitals
